The guy seems to have a knack for hooking giant Muskie ( Musky ) while Lake Trout fishing.
Giant Muskie ( Musky ) Ice Fishing Video
-
ha ha once the "pro" came in he caught it like nothing
-
lol that happens to me alot the "pro" comes in and talks shit about how he catches a bunch, then he catches nothing! NICE muskie..or pike idk
-
Catch and release, baby, nice job all around. I really appreciate the fact that there is no profanity in the video, just three guys thoroughly enjoying the day . . . I can show this video to children, they will be impressed as well. Nice work fellas!
-
Makes me cold just watchin that!! Don't plan on doing this, in my lifetime!! 80degrees and palm trees sounds nice for me!! Good Video tho!! Nice Job
-
hi guys im a 13 year old kid who loves to fish and will fish anywhere that has water please check me out and watch my video
-
good for you little bud!! should come up to canada, do so real fishing! really shouldn't give out your age on the web. hell ive caught bigger fish than that one on the vid!
-
ok thanks i havent been to canada in a while but i do live in new york so yea it doesnt matter and i have caught fish bigger than that too because i went tuna and barracuda fishing in bermuda and caught like a 150 pound tuna
-
I'm sorry and don't mean to rain on anybody's parade but before I go on I would like to know if you must catch and rlease the fish there, because if you don't, then you my friend, are a dumbass, talk about some good eats
-
i live on lake scugog in southeastern ontario, canada. in scugog i catch smallmouth and largemouth, walleye, different trypes of sunfsish, black adn white crappie, a few muskies, tons of perch, and huge carp, and a few rock bass. i also fish in duffins creek near me and catch brook trout and chubs in the winter i sometimes fish on lake simcoe and we get some big whitefish and lakers, and a few ling
Eaten plenty of Walleye here and I still prefer Pike (same family as Musky). Just a pain to fillet the Y bone out. Majority of fish I eat is panfish (perch, crappie, bluegill). Walleye, pike, and LM bass make up about 40%. Small mouth and Muskies are too much fighting champions to eat for me. It's like, "Wow, you fought that hard? Go free!"
-

That is one awesome video you guys are so lucky to have fish like that under the ice. Great to see you put it back after it had recovered. Brilliant video, hope the two guys who put there hands in didn't get frostbite.
-
Fishing is at times a recreational sport. And big fish like this have great genetics, and spawn bigger fish. Furthermore, fish this size tend to have large deposites of mercury and other contaminants. Therefore, always release the hogs, and eat the smaller ones, like 25-35 inches.
-
nice i wouldnt call it giant though...i dont hhave room to talk ive been trying to catch a tiger muskie at my small lake near by but we cant cover much water with the boats there since its a small lake its limited to electric motors only..any advice?
-
thats was alwsome way to go and nice release by the way what did the muskie bit on and what type of rod and reel where you using it look like it was a good rig set up
-
Hey, nice fish, am really jealous, when I went to Canada last January, had my Ice fishing cancelled because the weather, was to mild and Ice was unsafe!, next time if I'm lucky. What is one of the best bates to use?
-
What a
beautiful fish! You have to watch out if you're goig to put your hand in that whole though! My friend needed stiches after getting his hand opened up by pike teeth in that exact same scenario. He says the pike

bit him, but I think he got his hand caught on it's teeth because he was sort of drunk and wasn't paying attention. He was laughing like an idiot trying to pull it out. Anyways the fish won!
-
A question for you guys: if everyone makes holes in the ice, isnt that dangerous for people walking or snowmobiling? After your done with the hole do you have to mark it? thanks
-
Actually, the hole freezes back up no too long after you're done fishing. You actually have to keep breaking up the ice while you're fishing because it's so cold the water keeps freezing. It poses no risk to anyone else after you're done fishing.
damn.. my uncle is a musky freak. he fishes for nuthin else..hes got a few mounted about this size..ive never landed one but i had one on line for a few minutes he jumped and straightened my 3 pronged hook and got off..but i was able to see if it was a musky and the size of it my unlce said it was alittle over 2ft just by look 20 yds out..it was crazy. i wish i would have landed it cuz im not a fisherman and it would have been a nice catch. out on hudson lake in michigan.
-
Good that you release it coz muskies have slow reproduction time and are highly vurneable to overfishing. These guys are "Catch-and-release" fishers, wich is good! Thumbs up mates! Nice muskie you got.
-
muskie fishing is exactly what u said a sport. the fish are not that good of an eat. muskie are one of the hardest fresh water fish to catch. its important to practice catch and release
-
Yes. I have caught a few muskie, even though it is not what I fish for most of the time. I have never had trouble catching muskie, and I live in west NJ, where there are many lakes with an ample amount of muskie, so maybe it is the body of water you are fishing, or mine is a tad easier to fish. What I found exciting was catching a muskie on the fly. Harder species to catch would be paddlefish, grayling, any species of trout on the fly.
-
you fucking peck , ive caught pike up to 23lbs , so what if i got the name wrong , you failed fucking speck of spunk that was scraped up your mothers leg !! your a cunt
-

BIG
MUSKIES AROUND HERE YA GOT TO MAKE ANOTHER HOLE NEXT TO THE FIRST ONE :p 60 INCHES 60 POUNDS!
-
Took a big risk sticking your hand down there like that. I've seen pike go for a guy and try to take pieces out of him. They have massive teeth.
-
firefighter you are a moron!!!!! no muskies in either of those lakes!!! Must be you have never fished those lakes.
-
Wow....most open water musky fisherman would love a chance to catch one that big and you guys did it thru the ice..... amazing..nice fish
-
The thing I don't get is, why throw it back? Really though, your out there in the freezing cold, least you could do is get some meat from that thing... I know there's rules, but doesn't seem fair to me.
-

because on heavy populated lakes, people dont throw back and now the fish population is just down. It happened at my cottage and the fishing

is just terrible now.
-
typically fish go into shock when they're pulled out of the water, they have about a 40% chance to survive when you throw them back
-
I usually keep one or two of the biggest ones and release the smaller ones. Hey, I want to go home with some tasty fish to eat as a reward and not just leave empty handed.
-
you dont cast u drop the line straight down
-
who said that you cast? cuz they are retards if they say that uyou cast into a hole lol, i love ice fishing, and normal fishing, i sell fish and i sell flies that i tie myself. so i can get new gear like a new ogger, a portable shanty, new poles, and warm stuff to wear on the ice, message back, tell me waht you think.
-
i dont know some one said before"how to u cast in that little hole must be hard, must take lots of practice".then i replied u dont cast in the hole u drop it down the hole or jig it
Yes, if you "torture it" with hooks damaging their mouth and other parts of body, seriusly damaging those, and hook often stay in fishes mouth, then kill it, eat it.... and anyway what the hell is point of catching something, preparing yourself to catch it, buying rods, reels, all that, spending day on water.. thousand things
-
now i see why people sometimes hate the americans.. but i also learnt there're many people there who hate these bad habits(hobbies). if they cook and eat it.. this was a very nice film.. they're sick.
-

Just because you are too dense to understand why a man/woman would use his/her wits end technique to fool an animal into being captured to the point of total helplessness and then released to back into life as they know it, doesn't rate being hated. The animal will be fine. It doesn't hurt the vast majority at all. It's called a "challenge". If you climb a mountain, it's a challenge. You don't have to destroy the mountain so nobody else can climb it. You don't have to eat the fish

either.
-
what is the challange??! fishes are much smaller than us. you're just playing the game, aren't you? i never climb a mountain for such a reason. i climb it only when for the worships.
-
it is a challenge to fool a fish into biting... when a fishes sense are much more sharpened than say that of a whitetail deer... when i fool a 5-6 lb bass into biting my jerkbait... i feel accomplished...
-
alright, i'll try to understand your ways. i just hadn't seen fishes like that way before. they're my every day dishes and very precise ones, so i got interest to fish for myself. by watching this vid, i got some questions, but it didn't mean i really wanted to attack these things. just questions.
-
I am not sure about ice fishing, but course and fly fishing are certainly a challenge. Just because the fish are smaller does not make them less powerful, the above muskie has more pounds of pressure per centimeter of muscle than man does. They are just one huge bolt of power, and there is a lot of technique involved. I go fishing, surfing, climbing, hiking and i can tell you in an instant which one is more gratifying.
-
nice!! that thing woulda made some great patties.. could have fed a small african village.. nice fish! nice to know hell grow to be even bigger.. maybe feed a medium village someday lol
Watch Captain Ben Chancey get man handled and nearly getting pulled overboard by an estimated 600 pound Goliath Grouper…
Video of Giant 600 Pound Goliath Bass breaks rod.
Comments:
-
hey captian what bridge is that I was thinking about going over there with my boat.... all I use is avets best reel made. Will Live ladyfish work?
-
never rest your rod on anything when fighting a big fish xD
-
Lol I like how enthusiastic you are. And yeah, I'd be happy just catching those fish you used as bait as well ;)
-
you should have set your drag more but not to much and you would not of had that problem
-
shoulda let it run a while
-
You cant let it run at all...if you do you'll get broke off instantly. Y ou gotta get on emm quick and get them outta the structure.
-
Better he was in that situation than me. I'd ask my dad to hold that fish right there in the water with the broken rod. Then I'd kick my shoes off, put my fillet knife between my teeth and dived in after that sucker. I think we can all say this guy makes better decisions under pressure.
-
too bad theyre protected
-
"Watch Captain Ben Chancey get man handled and nearly getting pulled overboard by an estimated 600 pound Goliath Grouper. The fish breaks his rod and he lands it by hand after the rod is broken. Chew On This Saltwater Fishing Shows and Videos."
-
Well the rod would be resting right on top of my balls if I stuck it between my legs like that. Just saying.. he must have no balls or tiny ones > no disrespect.. just busting his balls.. or maybe he already did that LOL
-
capt ben YOU ARE AWSOME when you broke that rod you were all calm if i broke a rod like that i would be devestated but you took it as it came. im 14 and come from oz and you are the reason i caught a 50 kilo queensland grouper
-
unless there was a good reason to pull that hard because there are snags.. but even then i rather lose a fish than break my own gear hehehe
-
Yep, first of all, if he was going for any kind of legit record, that disqualifies him. It's cheating for leverage. Anyhow, bad idea, and it did break from being placed on the rail, otherwise the rod would not have broken in that spot. These guys are awesome fishermen, but that was human error not equipment failure.
-
there is thing i've noticed about all these big fish catches. Why didnt the freakin camera man help him? The poor guy's dying over there. Give him a hand instead of fliming dude!!
-
its because world record fish dont count if another person touches the rod, and because the camera man gets paid to film not to catch fish
-
Ronaldhino3000 if a 600 pound grouper was pulling on your rod would you have been able to stop the rod from being placed on the rail?
-

The guy is a hell of a fisherman, but the rod

did not have to break. 600 lb+ fish have been landed on similar or lighter rods. Took hiim down, but maybe the drag was set too tight. Notwithstanding, great show and great fisherman.
-
ur a big man talking crap on the internet ur probably a bluegill fisherman if u dont like the video then dont tlak about it moron
-
MyBackIsCold can you even fish? Bigdog is right. This man holds the world record for goliath grouper so shut up and go home
-
capt i was wondering im from miami and love fishing well i want to know if were you fish(stuart) is any good? and were could i fish should i bring my boat but it looks like their great game under birdges or what any good fishing bridges? plz respond
-
That looks fun how deep were you? It looks like you wasn't far from land. Here in Jacksonville FL we have to be at least 10 mi out to get any grouper let alone a Goliath.
-
So you people cath the fish but then release them afterwards? I like that, respect for you and your folks then! Fishing is okay! as long they don't kill those big creatures:)
you got some INCREDIBLE videos capt chancey. That G.Bass looks like it pulls like a 500 lb Amberjack. My back is hurting just watching this. Have you ever caught a MAKO? We were fortunate enough to run across a 340 lb Mako after it nailed my 150 lb YFT so we free gaffed it and drug it through the door and all HELL broke loose. What a fish, no doubt as to what rules the Gulf.
-

Ok, just let me know if you ever come across here and want to just fish. I fish inshore as well as offshore. Anything from speckled trout, redfish, flounder, triple tail, snapper, cobia, and amberjack. I actually have a question for you. Can you eat snook?
-
Yes, they're fished commercially in Latin America.
-
what kind of string do you use and i go fishing at a pier for sharks and halibit but havent caught much pleace give me a hint any hint on getting big fish
-
crisiscoolchris the biggest thing is you have to know those fish are there before you target them. If you are fishing for them and they are not there you can't catch them.
-
you should not say oh my word so much and how come you do all the fishing instead of the people who charter you. and you yelling sort of sounds like a girl
-
The reason the rod broke, besides that being a huge fish, is because he let the rod rest up against the corner of the boat. A rod is made to work as one long flex. The boat edge pushed into the rod and weakened it. I SURE HOPE YOU RELEASED THAT AWESOME FISH!! Groupers are rightly protected. They are gentle fish. If you killed it shame on you.
-
good lord dude 600 pounds probably you did a sick job and yes the rod broke cause it was on the ledge but it held 600 pounds so it worked
-
Not To be a ball buster Capt. Chancey but you do know that It is against the law to pull a goliath grouper out of the water. You must catch and release the fish while it is in the water. its against the law to even pick it up and have it in your possesion
-
lol this guy sounds like hes having an…, The funniest part was near the end when hes goes like " oh my god! LOOOK! AT that
FISH! AHHHH ! " lol it sounds like its some Laguna Horror movie
-
Oh Ok i figured you did it before the new law. I think its shit...If I went through all that to get a
fish
like that I would want to pick it up and take a picture
-
We fish in SW Florida in the Cape Coral, Ft. Myers area. As far as where we get our gear. There are many places. I just came back from West Marine with some cable for Goliath fishing.
-
Cape Fear and it was only a 25 to 50 we have caught many Goliaths up to 500 pounds on that rod. If I didn't let it touch the gunnel it would have never broke. I just couldn't hold it anymore.
-
Hey capt. Thanks on the info on the rod,It looked like the rods I have in the philippines, their Shakesphere tidewater50-100 and realy wanted to know,.You replied very fast and I thank you very MUCH!!!Happy fishing to you...
-
if the fisherman is 250lb, l dont think the fish is 600lb, clasic mistake though
-
The fisherman was 200lb and the
fish
was nearly 8ft long and 70 plus inches around. Sounds pretty big to me when you apply the fish formula.
-
Classic mistake? Fact • 500 pounds with BOUYANCY can be manipulated by a 200 pound person if the fish is not exherting itself downward. The line itself woud break before pulling the man off his feet assumiing it was not a 200 pound test line. Ignorant mistake though...on your part.
That fish is sick, I don't think i would be able to bring something like that in. I have been deep sea fishing for eight years and caught marlin, sailfish, and other types of fish, but nothing like this BEAST. Oh yeah I also went snook fishing in the outskirts of the everglades and got caught up on some bull sharks. That was a sweet experience.
-

Giant THANKS to all who watch Chew On This. We just hit 4 million viewers on 2/19/09. As far as I know you all have made Chew On This the
most watched fishing show in the world Online.
-
are people allowed to keep the galiath grouper of that size ? If not what is the size limit and bag limit on fish of this calliber of fish.
-
yummo i live gag grouper and all grouper i go deep sea fishing out in NC we catch snapper grouper and all that good stuf but id like to fish for these monsters one day just for tha fun
-
OMG That fish was huge!!!!!!!!! And the reason why his pole broke is because there is no reason to have the drag setting that tight so close to the boat
-
what dude he is like ten feet away from the brigde if he gets around one of those pilons its over and obviously you never have fish for grouper cause you set that drag that tight every time 400 feet or ten feet it dont matter
-
dang dude did u get it on the boat???
-
We are not allowed to anymore.
-
they are not allowed to put them in the boat that type of grouper are protected they don't care who you are pro angler or a once in awhile angler you cant pull it on your boat some of his videos he did but that was taped before the no in you boat thing but even then you weren't allowed to keep a Goliath grouper
-
CONGRATULATIONS, but.... Honestly, the fish didn't break the rod, you did it. Should loose the star on your reel just a bit and never put your rod against the boat, put attention at the video and the moment the rod touched the boat it broke.
-
is this in sanibel befor they built the new bridge theres a huge grouper that sits in the middle pilon of the new brigde about that size and evena bigger one down at big carlos pass i seen him come up and eat a ray in one bite he looked like a small car
-
Do you fish? because I do, and I understand how he feels. I once won a Fishing Torny with a 10 pound Big Mouth Bass. Got a new, pricey Fishin' Pole with new pricey Lures. Ahhh...It was so awesome, fighting that bugger in!
